*NEW* Bear Creek PTA and East Ridge PTA Joint AUCTION
The ABC Auction Committee has decided, after a year of thinking about what our community will look like in the 2017-2018 year, to discontinue the ABC Auction and its partnership with Northshore Schools Foundation. Instead, the auction will continue to live on as the main Bear Creek PTA fundraiser. We will be joining forces with the East Ridge PTA to maintain the community ties we have with East Ridge Families. Everyone involved is very excited and we are still in the beginning stages of figuring out how it will all work and starting to plan for the event. This new alliance will be called BEcommunity Auction.
By discontinuing the ABC Auction, what the auction can fund will change. The funding will no longer be able to be used to support additional staff hours at Bear Creek because PTA’s are not allowed to pay for staffing.
The funding will now support all of the PTA programming and will become the main PTA fundraiser. The auction will continue to be held in the spring and will support the following year’s PTA budget. (The funds raised at this year’s auction, April 29th, 2017 will be the funding for the 2017-2018 school year).
Please know that this decision was not an easy one. As our school declined last year by 70 students to 430, we had a ~40 guest loss at the auction from 192 down to 156. As we think about our school being closer to 300 students, the lower numbers will make it difficult for an auction to raise enough money to continue supporting the same programs. By combining with East Ridge, a joint auction will give us the larger numbers we need to support PTA at both schools.
